Day 4: St. James – Swellendam

This morning – after breakfast – we are checking in on Rovos Rail. We will have a welcome drink at the departure launch at Cape Town main station and a briefing about the train, how everything will work and what you can expect along the way. The people who want to ride today are kindly asked to take the bikes from the guesthouse to the station. (If nobody is riding today the bikes will be transported to the train and be loaded on to the carrier wagon).

At 11h30 the train will leave Cape Town and is going to Swellendam today where we will meet the riders again. Dinner later on the train.If you like the route of the riders but you don’t want to ride, you can join the bus which will follow the riders.

After the check in at Rovos Rail we leave Cape Town on the National road N1 to Franschhoek – the French corner. A quick coffee and some shopping on main road before we are going over the Franschhoek Pass to Villiersdorp. From there we continue to Swellendam via Robertson and Ashton.
